BMW M2 G87 fitted with the KAKAER dry carbon aero kit

The G87 M2 arrived with the kind of proportions that aftermarket carbon suits immediately: short wheelbase, wide hips, and a body that reads as aggressive before you add anything. It is also one of the platforms where our catalog splits cleanly into two ways to buy, so it is worth knowing exactly which one you are choosing before you spend.

Everything below concerns the G87 generation (2023+). If you have an F87 M2 or M2 Competition (2016-2020), the panels are not interchangeable — see BMW for the F87 listings.

What we make for the G87

Two listings cover the platform, and they are deliberately structured differently:

Route one: the three-piece dry carbon kit

BMW M2 G87 Dry Carbon Aero Kit is the straightforward route. The full kit consists of the three pieces that change the car's stance most from the front, side and rear: an add-on front lip, a replacement rear lip and add-on side skirts. Having all three matters more than any single piece, because they tie the silhouette together — fitting only a lip tends to leave the car looking front-heavy.

The kit is dry carbon, and the listing also offers the same three pieces in double-sided vacuum carbon for owners who want a different construction under the clear coat. Optional hoods are priced separately, which is worth knowing up front: the hoods are the most expensive single pieces in the range, and adding one changes the budget considerably.

Route two: individual prepreg dry carbon parts

BMW M2 G87 (2023+) Prepreg Dry Carbon Parts lists 13 separate pieces for the same platform, each priced on its own. This route suits owners who already know which part they want, or who are building the car up over several months rather than in one go.

  • Front lips in two versions, so you can pick the aggressiveness you want
  • Rear diffusers in two versions, plus rear canards in two versions
  • Side skirts in two versions, plus side canards
  • Front canards and front air ducts for the front corners
  • Rear bumper trim and a hood for the larger visual changes

Because every piece is priced individually, there is no kit discount built into this route. If your plan is the lip plus diffuser plus skirts anyway, compare the total against the kit price before ordering — sometimes the kit wins, and sometimes mixing only two pieces out of the 13 is cheaper.

Why these listings are carbon-only

Both G87 listings are carbon rather than FRP. That reflects what actually sells on this platform: most G87 owners are buying visible carbon, and a small coupé carries visible weave well. If you would rather have FRP to paint and save money, the same design language exists across other platforms — the BMW page lists everything we build for the marque, including FRP options.

Practically, carbon-only also simplifies the decision: you are choosing which pieces, not which material.

Fitment: get this right before ordering

  • Generation. G87 means 2023-onward. The F87 (2016-2020) panels do not fit it.
  • Bumper version. Add-on pieces attach to the factory bumper; replacement pieces take its place. Knowing which one you are buying matters when you plan installation.
  • Driver assistance hardware. On any modern BMW, check what sits behind the front bumper before ordering grille or vent components, and tell us which version your car has if you are ordering anything near the sensor area.

If you are not certain, send a photo of the front of the car plus your VIN on WhatsApp and we will confirm before anything is made up.

Installation expectations

Everything in these two listings is add-on or replacement bolt-on work — no fender cutting, no bonding of structure. Practically:

  • Add-on lips, skirts and diffusers mount to the factory panels using standard hardware and suit a competent home garage
  • Replacement parts — the rear lip and any hood — need more care with panel gaps and should be dry fitted before anything is tightened
  • Because everything arrives finished in carbon, there is no paint bill unless you choose to paint a panel body colour

Do the full dry fit before final tightening, and re-check fixings after the first few hundred kilometres.

Putting a package together

  1. Decide whether you want the coordinated three-piece look or specific individual pieces
  2. Check the total of the individual route against the kit price
  3. Confirm your bumper version and any sensor-related variants
  4. Decide whether hoods are in scope now or later — they are the largest single cost in the range
